About

If you know me fairly well, you know what a delight it is for me to share the things that bring me joy. Had this idea a while ago: to blend my favourite cream base with herb-infused oils that have amazing healing and beauty-enhancing properties.

Why do I make these salves... just as with cooking, I like good quality stuff without any nasties. My Sister made some of those oily face creams once - I was immediately hooked - this kind of moisture and nourishment goes deep in the skin!

Using creams I make myself has recently become a necessity - I've been on a healing journey from inflammation since October 2018 and my body reacts to almost anything by going straight into allergy state. Apart from being on a very restrictive diet, I had to say goodbye to perfumes, and now carefully select my laundry detergent, cleaning products and... cosmetics. Now, you’ve guessed it - my body accepts the creams I make - perfect!

All my salves are crafted in small batches with utmost care without any water, additives, chemicals or preservatives. They can be used as lip balm, night face salve, body butter, hand cream, even day face cream (that's what I do!). They get absorbed fairly quickly, being patient with the initial greasiness is well worth it!

What’s in the base?

Candellila wax (organic)
Shea butter (unrefined organic)
Cocoa butter (unrefined organic)
Organic raw extra virgin coconut oil

Organic golden jojoba oil
These beauties have magical properties of their own - have fun exploring the net!

This time we are depending on the antioxidant properties of cocoa butter as a preservative. Aim to use within 2 months. Keep in the fridge, especially if using sparingly to extend this window for another month. A 60ml jar usually lasts about a month when I use it as face cream twice a day.

If still cautious about oily face creams, start with the cream as your night salve before bed, clean your face well with a gentle face wash and face cloth, dry well and apply the cream - a pea-size amount should do for face and neck. It usually absorbs completely within 10-15 minutes. Why not lie down and meditate while that happens?

Do let me know how the salve you chose feels on your skin – your feedback is important to me.

With love,

Emilia

PS. If you are sure you absolutely hate putting oils and butters on your face – these products might not be for you! If you want to give it a try anyway, there are 5ml sample pots available in the store. If the ‘face trials’ are not successful, you may want to use the salve as your lip balm, or hand/elbow/knee cream.
